Read 2 Kings 4:42-44

Tuesday

Read 2 Kings 4:42-44

4:42 A man came from Baal-shalishah, bringing food from the first fruits to the man of God: twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. Elisha said, "Give it to the people and let them eat."

4:43 But his servant said, "How can I set this before a hundred people?" So he repeated, "Give it to the people and let them eat, for thus says the LORD, 'They shall eat and have some left.'"

4:44 He set it before them, they ate, and had some left, according to the word of the LORD.

Think

The stories of 2 Kings 4 occur in the context of a famine.  Several miracles occur where God provides for the people.  Making a poisonous stew edible.  Ensuring that the widows jar of oil doesn't run out.  Ensuring that the meagre offering of a man of God is enough to feed the hungry and see that there is 'some left'.  With God there is enough for all who have need.

Pray

I feel like my offering is never enough.  I feel like my effort is never adequate.  But you are the gracious God who lifts up the falling and raises up the bowed down.  Take the little I have and use it to your glory.
